Valley Vista High School has been very successful in developing community partnerships and obtaining grants to fund technology. As a result, students have access to technology in each classroom as well as in the electives lab and library/media center. Despite the withdrawal of state funds for the maintainence of technology in the classroom, Valley Vista has continued to support the use and maintenance of equipment obtained through various resources.
The Valley Vista staff continues to obtain training in technology. The focus of training in 2004-05 has been on the use of SB2000, an online attendance and student data program. On the recent semester break training, the staff completed the CTAP2 assessment, in order to continue to measure progress in technology use.
The focus of student technology use for the current school year has been on improving basic skills development through Read 180 and Plato programmed instruction programs. Other areas addressed have been the creation of multimedia projects using powerpoint and the development of senior digital and print exit portfolios.
