Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s):
The following contains information from Dr. Crosby, Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, and Mrs. Clitheroe, Principal, Valley Vista High School.
The 2021 spring administration of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics will be given remotely. Our priority is to keep our students and educators safe by following state, county, and local health and safety requirements associated with the current pandemic.
The CAASPP is an indicator of progress toward career and college readiness and English learners can use their score as one of the four criteria to be reclassified. Additionally, the data gathered provides valuable input to help plan instruction.
If you wish to excuse your student from any of the CAASPP assessments (ELA and/or math), please fill out this opt-out form:VvHS Opt Out Form for each studentby April 28, 2021. If you have questions or concerns, please call VvHS at 714-964-7766.
Please review the following guidelines for student testing:
·The English/Language Arts assessment is Monday, May 3 and the Math assessment is Monday, May 10.
·Students will check in with teachers for periods 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 for nine minutes so the teacher can check attendance and give assignments. Students will test with their 5thperiod class.
·Students must use a Chromebook for both assessments. If your student does not have a Chromebook, please contact VvHS at 714-964-7766 to make arrangements to pick up a Chromebook. Earphones will also be available.
·To keep the test confidential, do not talk about the questions on the test.
·No one may record the test or use a camera or another device to take pictures of the test questions or of your student taking the test.
·We need to know that the test is being completed by your student without any help. To verify compliance, a web camera and microphone will be used to observe your student while taking the test. The camera is only used to observe your student and the surroundings during the test and will not record the session.
·Please follow all instructions given by the test administrator or examiner to place the camera where your student and the student’s immediate surroundings can be observed.
